The team here at NR Barton are delighted to announce that through our socially distanced coffee morning, we were able to raise a total of £200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The morning of 29 September 2020, the team generously baked and bought cakes to bring to the event (see featured pictures). Some of the home-made bakes looked fantastic… so the Great British Bake-Off better look out for Team NR Barton.
All jokes aside, we are thrilled to have raised such a healthy sum for a very worthy cause. The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has created a worldwide health crisis but cancer doesn’t stop.
We must not forget that in our lifetimes, 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men will develop some form of cancer. This sickening disease has been around, and will continue to be around, for a lot longer than COVID-19. As a result, many great causes such as Macmillan Cancer Support, desperately need the support of the entire community, and NR Barton are doing our best to assist.
Although this represented a break from traditional coffee mornings sitting with each other to have coffee, cake, and a good old chinwag, we were keen to push on with a socially distanced morning. Like most things now, social distancing measures resulted in a break from tradition but our team were still more than happy to contribute to the cause.
We would like to say a special thank you to Angela Holland, Catherine Naughton and Sue Walker for dedicating the time to organise this event, as well as all of the NR Barton team who either baked, bought and/or donated.
Below are a couple more pictures of the cakes brought in.
